Hello there

I am quite new to all this, but have, with a lotta help from this forum figured out how to do most things that I need.

But.....................

I was wondering if there was an option/action/tweak... that allowed specific sound/alarm emotes that could only be triggered by mods or admins.

Something along the line of Canned Message Announcements, that could not be triggered by general chatters in the room.

I thought it might be useful to have a mod generated specific sound/alarm that could be triggered as a pre-empt to a general text announcement in the room.
That way, those that might be temporarily AFK...or simply engrossed in private chat would be made aware that an announcement was about to be posted to all chatters.

For obvious reasons, it has to only be available to mods/admins

Does this exist...any ideas? ...if not...any chance of it being a possibility in future updates?

Answers on a post card please...failing that, here of the forum would be just fine :)

Thanks for listening...

Hi red,

I haven't tried this but see no reason why it wouldn't work. Place the trigger in your filtered words. Make sure your administrators belong to a user group who's words aren't filtered. This will not keep the trigger from being displayed when it is entered to the chat but is should still work, transmit the audio and not be allowed for regular users.

I created a trigger using the null character (pressing ALT + 255 on the number pad). This "space" or null character was not visible to the users to copy unless they can click on emotes on screen to repeat your emote. If you're using a sound, then this would not be a problem.

For example, create a sound with the trigger :X: . However, add the null character after this trigger. Anyone who types :X: would not get the sound, but you would knowing you have to type ALT + 255 after :X:. They would not know they have to add the null character to that trigger to make it work. Since the null character looks like a space....they'll never know it's there.

To clarify, press and hold your ALT key while tapping the keys 2 and 5 and 5 on the number pad. A 'space' appears on screen. While it looks like a space, it is actually something different - a null character.

Hello and thanks for the responses.

Greg; that works well for the purpose I initially proposed.
And......
Dew: I am aware of that keystroke, but was trying to avoid using it.

And thank you both.

But combining both those answers together to make another question, does anyone know how to make Alt key codes work as filtered characters ?
I can make Alt key codes work as triggers, but they dont filter and then anyone who recognises the command can reproduce it, hence me not wanting to use Hidden Dragon.

Does that make sense?
Or, am I asking for the impossible?

If you dont ask you will never know :D

In the past I had simply copied and pasted them to the filtered words. I'd say that still works.
