vBulletin 3.x Official Integration & Authentication Product

Product Info
Name: AddonChat Official Integration Product
Product ID: addonchat
Version: 3.8.7
Author: AddonInteractive (http://www.addoninteractive.com/)

  • Updated to support RAS (Remote Authentication System) v2.1 providing extremely fine grain control over user privileges.
  • New 'User is Banned' option in usergroup manager to easily prevent users belonging to specified usergroups from entering your chat room.
  • Who's Chatting list is now (optionally) displayed on main forum page in the What's Going On box.
  • Embedded Width may now be specified in percentage values (defaults to 100%)
  • Option to display Chat Room Link in main navigation tab, community menu, and/or quick links menu.

  • Mobile Edition Support
  • SSL Support

Thanks, Chris! Is there any change between this extension and the Release Candidate?

Nope -- The first release candidate worked out very well. The only thing we did was remove the do_not_upload folder and slightly edit the installation instructions. If you're still using the release candidate, there is no need to update :)

The integration script has been updated. If you are currently using this script or the release candidate and are not having issues, you do not need to upgrade.

The update made today addresses the following issues:
  • Script conflict issues with vBCredits plugin have been resolved
  • Integration script will now use the CURL extension if allow_url_fopen directive is disabled.
  • Navigation and template bits are now cached to provide slight performance boost.
If you do intend to upgrade, please uninstall your current AddonChat product from the AdminCP, download, and re-install this product. When uploading files via FTP, allow older files to be overwritten.

When I try to download I get a message that says I am not logged in. Also posted an error on VB.org, no response. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure what the problem is, but the download does appear to be working fine for me. The vbulletin.org download is on their own server, so you certainly shouldn't be getting the error from both sites. Please try it again :)

Ahh -- I see your post now. Disregard my last post, this isn't related to the download, but rather to the install. I'll respond at vbulletin.org.

I am trying to install the addonchat to my vbulliten forum. I have vb 3.7.3 pl1. I have installed according to your directions. It shows in the manage products folder but when I refresh my admin cp it does not load the addonchat menu into my control panel. I have followed the instructions and it shows to be installed. I do not know what I am doing wrong.

I do have another chat program loaded in my forum. I went so far as to uninstall the other chat program and it still would not load the addonchat menu into my control panel.

Please help. I wanted to give the free one a try to see how it worked for some of my users before i purchased the pro. But if I can not get it installed correctly then I sol.

Thanks
Sue

Sue -- It sounds like something went wrong during installation. It's possible you may have another mod that is conflicting. We'd be happy to help. Simple eMail support@addonchat.com with your account number and any additional information that will be helpful for our techs to resolve the issue.

Wow, I'm really glad I moved over to Addonchat! I've been using FlashChat for almost 2 years and it's been causing me so many headaches I was just about to remove chat from my forum entirely.

I noticed users mentioned links to members profiles within the chat room. I don't see this as an option anywhere ?

Hi,

This option will work provided you have the Pro+ service or higher. You'll find the option in your vBulletin ACP under AddonChat -> Account Settings -> Forum Integration -> Link Chat to Forum - User Profiles

I got it working by actually authenticating it via automatic lookup. It had been failing until this evening when I actually entered my password and messed with the URL.

NEW PROBLEM: Now I see the links you were referring to but they all lead to a link with member.php?u=0 . It doesn't have the correct member #!

Could be possibly that you need to do a simple refresh to get the new settings working properly, if not, please open a ticket and we'll be happy to help out :)

Chris,

I signed up yesterday, need to integrate. I am waiting for the free trial to professional plus to then buy it. In the meantime, I am getting vb ready, I uploaded the files, I have a question, I sent it to support but I guess I tell you directly.

I don't need the who's chatting in the nav bar, so I am wondering if I can skip the modifications described in the readme for the integration script.

In the instructions for the integration script with vb there are 3 blocks of code to add. Can I skip those if I don't want the who's chatting in the nav bar?

Hmm -- if you're using vBulletin v3.7 and the correct integration script, there aren't any manual modifications -- the options are all done directly in the AddonChat section of your vBulletin admin control panel once it has been installed.

I sent an email to support, but I'm hoping someone can help me here. I just had Addon Chat installed in my vBulletin forum. It shows up nicely on the forum, everything shows up fine in the vBulletin admin control panel, but the chat room won't connect. I keep getting this error message:

Quote

admin
Service temporarily unavailable. Please try again in a few minutes.

I've had Addon chat for a long time on my other (not vBulletin) forum, and I've never had this problem before. Not sure what to do.
