The following procedures for integrating phpBB have been kindly donated by a customer of ours. phpBB integration currently supports automatic login using the phpBB user name and integrated Who's Chatting system.

phpBB 3.x AddonChat Integration Instructions: http://support.addon...v3x-integration
phpBB 2.x AddonChat Integration Instructions:http://support.addon...v3x-integration
A Flash-driven demonstration for phpBB 2.x integration (which may also help users having trouble with phpBB 3.x integration) can be found at http://support.addon...tive.com/phpbb/

Archived integration scripts for older releases can be found at: http://support.addon...ibrary&folder=4

AddonInteractive is happy to assist with installation and provide any help we can for phpBB users using these integration methods. Feel free to post here, create a new thread in this forum, or eMail us at support@addonchat.com for assistance.

We've updated our knowledge base article to provide a more complete explanation describing how to integrate an AddonChat Professional, Professional PLUS, or Enterprise edition chat room with phpBB.

The knowledge base article can be found at: http://support.addon...n=kb&article=40

Additionally, a complete Flash demonstration can be found at: http://support.addon...tive.com/phpbb/

The link to the module download is gone. Any chance on obtaining a new link to the download or grabbing a copy off someone?

I'd like to give this another go with phpnuke.

Hi -- This knowledge base article doesn't contain a link to any download that I'm aware of. It is all copy the directions / copy & paste at http://support.addon...n=kb&article=40

There is also a flash walk through of the process at http://support.addon...tive.com/phpbb/

A popular Mod for integrating phpBB with AddonChat (works with AddonChat free edition too!) is available for download and discussion here:

It was this download I was referring to... the page is no longer there. Is it just the same as what is in the support resources section here?

I tried testing the "Professional" version with integration...however all it did was auto-login my members....moderators did not have any moderator permissions.

I need...

1. only registered users to be able to use chat (ideally, only registered users in a particular group can only use chat!)
3. forum moderators should also have moderator permissions in chat

Is this possible with any of the packages?

forum moderators should also have moderator permissions in chat

You will need create a user with an identical username in the addOn chat control panel and assign them moderator permissions. When this user then logs in, he will have moderator powers.

The script provided allows registered users ONLY to use the chat software. Guests, when trying to access the chat page, will be re-directed to the login screen.

You can amend the code to have certain users access the chat room only. What criteria are you looking at?

I'm having trouble with that. I cannot integrate the chat into phpBB unless I use the Remote Authentication. However, when that's turned on, I can't make any changes to users in the AddonChat control panel. Kind of a Catch-22. How do I fix this?

I have the same problems. I purchased Profession plus because it said in the features that the chatrooms could be moderated. I've not been able to set this up at all. I've never seen the kick/ban etc unless I actuallly go into the admin console. I expected to be able to moderate the chatrooms from within the chatrooms and not have to have different windows open to do this. I also have not been able to set it so my moderator's/admin show up as having that status in the chat rooms. If anyone can explain why features I paid for aren't contained in what I have, I'd appreciate it.

Cheers!

If you're referring to remote authentication, there is a file available for download at http://support.addon...php?FLIB=1&id=6 that provides this. It is a user contributed file though and appears to be built for phpBB 2. It could easily be used in conjunction with the popular (non-authentication) integration method detailed in the support center; however automatic login would need to be disabled from the script I believe as there is no provision to pass the password.

Both mods at http://support.addon...ibrary&folder=4 are worth looking into and may be a better alternative than what you're currently using which requires administrator accounts be manually created within the AddonChat control panel.

If you have any questions, please eMail support@addonchat.com.

I don't have moderator permissions at all even as an admin unless I open the add on chat window. I'd like to know why when I purchased this product, the features stated that Professional Plus had moderating functions and upon purchase I now find the software is basically useless as it does not in fact allow me to moderate the chatrooms or to give moderator privileges to others. It appears that these features were removed from Professional Plus after I had purchased it and believing I'd have them. Will your company refund me so that I can find a program that actually gives what it offers?

Cheers!

To the best of my knowledge ProPlus never offered "Moderation". Features
Some confuse "moderator" with "administrator" when the features of admin is really what they want. The moderation feature is available with the Enterprise edition. For a while an admin could assign "moderator" or "guest speaker" status to other chatters but when done so they had no functions as such. This was a bug or oversight when V8.0 came out and has since been corrected (please read about V8.05 updates).

I you are having administrative problems and your chat is integrated with phpBB (which this thread is about) then you can submit a support ticket where possibly you can get a resolve.

I've been ill for some time and unable to follow up on this until now, but I disagree with what you've stated regarding Pro-Plus not offering the moderation features, and am fairly sure I actually took screen shots (which hopefully are still somewhere on my computer) that offered those specific features. In fact in your v8.05 update it actually mentions that the features are now only available with Enterprise service accounts "Moderator features are no longer shown in Professional and Professional PLUS accounts. These are Enterprise service features." This to me is an admission that the features were originally offered.

My point is that when I purchased Pro-Plus, those features were offered as part of the package and then removed afterwards. As I purchased this package in good faith according to what was offered in the package. I am a very unsatisfied customer and feel quite strongly about being misled and I did not confuse moderating features with administrative features. What I read upon purchase was that I'd be able to silence, kick or ban a user from chat as well as allow others admin/mod status to do the same. Redirecting me to some support line that will more than likely also try and convince me that I only 'imagined' those features as being advertised doesn't sit well and I'd appreciate a more pertinent answer to my original question.

Thank you.

For the answer you are seeking you would have to contact addon directly through their toll free number (1.866.459.9810) listed at the bottom of this forum or submit a support ticket. I am not an employee or staff member for addonChat. These forums are here for user/user (or owner/owner) support. No member of this forum other than Chris can supply the definitive answer you are seeking.

We have had our Pro Plus account since '03. It's never had the moderator features you speak of. That's always been part of the Enterprise service.

Just what it says. The Moderator features were SHOWN in Pro Plus accounts however they were not functional. All you could do was mark a chatter as a guest speaker and all it did was change the user icon. There was no other functionality beyond that. It wasn't the true moderated chat you get in the Enterprise account. So nothing was taken away from the Pro Plus package.

Can I just mention that I am a bit of an idiot?

Yesterday after finding addon chat, I decided it was perfect for my phpbb 3.0

I downloaded the free version, set it up, integrated it with no problems at all, I liked it, the users liked it, so I went and purchased the pro version.

EXCEPT I did it under another account, so I edited the chat.html files with the new room number etc.

Then I spent 6 hours last night and 2 hours this morning racking my brains and swearing a lot.

Why? because no matter how many times I refreshed or re booted, I still got the trial version, i spent untold amounts of times checking and rechecking the codes, checking the intergration instructions etc...

Then about 2 hours ago it came to me in a blinding flash.

phpbb caches the pages, and I forgot this:eek:

Deleted the cached chat.html page, and its working perfectly Yeeesss!!!

Now has anyone got a "bang head against wall" icon for the terminally stoopid like me?

Oh, might be a idea to mention about the cached pages in the knowledge base ( i put a support ticket in as well about this, but closed it when I realised what a plank i had been)
