Hello everyone, just registered. :)

I've just upgraded to the professional version and I'm stuck, I've seen what I need to do to include this into my vb software. Trouble is I'm a complete technical numpty and I've no idea where I'm suppose to put it.

I don't think even that makes any sense. :D

Any help appreicated. :)

Hi Jane,

I'm using VB 3.03 and got it all installed in about 10 minutes.... I'm using a hack for VB I got at vb.org I haven't looked to see which ones might be here for that....

Hi Romeos Tune,

I'm using VB3.03 too, I've already installed it (the basic one), can't for the life of me think of how I did it. So I don't really know what my next step should be...

Lemme point you to this:

It is what I used for the integration and the instructions are very easy to follow.... Hope this helps..... :)

Just been reading the thread, I must say I'm a little worried as to whether I can do this or not :D

What I'm wondering is, will this overwrite the previous version I have?

Not at all. Basically it comes with 4 different php scripts that you upload into your forum root. You only have to edit 1 file with your chatroom ID and then place a link in your navbar somewhere or actually anywhere on your site. Then you have to add a few templates and add some phrases and that's it. But it won't do anything to your vb.... :)

Ahh you make it sound so easy! :D So the basic chat version I have on there now, will effectively become redundant and the new version will take it's place then?

Hi Jane --

If you'd like to email support@raidersoft.com with the following information, we can do the upgrade for you. We'll need:

1. Address to your forum
2. Forum administrator username/password
3. Address to your FTP site
4. Username/password for FTP site
5. Would you like to allow guest access to your chat room?
6. Would you like users to be automatically logged in to your chat room?
7. Do you want your chat room to be a popup window, or do you want it to be embedded like the Chat link on this forum?
8. Your SigmaChat account ID number

As it's already 6pm here, we'll most likely handle the request on Sunday :)

Chris, I do have a question though. :) With the free version, any guest clicking on the chat link would get a forbidden message. With this they don't. Is there anyway I can change this?

Hi Jane,

What forbidden message did they get? Was it generated by your forum software? -- the free version is set to allow all guests access. The forum software; however; may be set up such that to view the page you need to be logged in first.

I beleive the message was generated by the software. All registered members when entering chat, entered automatically. When guest tried to access they were just viewed a message saying they had to register first. If that makes sense.

Jane,

It sounds like the forum software was generating the message. Did you previously have it set up so that only registered users could read your forum, or perhaps just view the chat.php file?
